mum, come and look what i have made

of course, i was all prepared to answer, "what a lovely tower", when oskar interjected and said "it's the carillion bells!" here he is adding the final touch of his haba bell. you've gotta admit it bears more than a passing resemblance.

but where is alex?

before and after

we ask oskar to tell us when he finished holding carlo - but sometimes he forgets...

attitude

it was a test of inner strength - could he withstand the pressure to mimic an anne geddes-inspired autumnal shoot. as proud parents, we say "yes, our boy's got attitude!" - although he relented a little

carlo on the walk to kangaroo point

oskar rock climbs

i don't know how many of you are familiar with the kangaroo point cliffs in brisbane. well, they are a rock climbers urban nirvana. on any given day, hordes of tourists and brisvegans can be seen there scaling the cliffs. oskar had not seen rock climbing before and was intrigued, indeed inspired...
no sooner had he walked past the climbers, he announced himself as a rock climber and found his own rocks to climb (albeit with help from aj and dave). the pic doesn't show it so well, but he is imitating the gestures of the climbers positioning their hands and feet.
how proud is he, so he busts a nice yoga stretch...

21 april - a day of firsts

carlo matured today. he had a trio of firsts
*first meal in the high chair
*first swing
*first sleep in his cot after graduating from the leander hanging bassinette

can u dig it - part 345454677867857564655354354526525234243243

hot on the heels of completing my first assignment for garment construction at cit, i decided to make a tool belt for oskar. it has hoops for his plastic screwdriver and hammer and a pocket for his tape measure. i even machine embroidered "diggy man" onto the waistband. he loved it, put it on and proceeded to find all the loose screws in the house to repair. here he is mid-swing fixing the front door jam. he is wearing a green cable sweater knitted by nana j.

now to my bag: denim provided by school, sea scouts, hughes and lining fabric found in discard basket from fashion design students, red felt crown made by me. bag features camo pin cushion pocket, scissor and thread clipper compartments, pockets for miscellaneous items - awl, needles, industrial bobbin cases etc, and a pocket on the lining so that when i am in class i can set my phone to vibrate and get calls from alex about the kids if he needs to contact me. sooperb!!!!!

oh, and only 4 weeks to go until i am a qualified industrial machinist...
