on the beach
yes, the flattest water in the world (although tine and thomas assure us that with the right wind, surf is up) and the rocky coastline - welcome to a danish beach.
apparently the pastime of tha youth is to try to skim the rocks to sweden - well you can't do that with a swell, so i reckon it's always flat.
fabulous walk through heath covered dunes and beautiful summer houses to get to the beach - and helena christensen has her house just down the beach from here.
hello to tine, thomas, anna and gustav
after nearly 5 years, alex and i get to meet up with tine, thomas and anna - our friends from new delhi. in the meantime, tine and thomas had another child, gustav and alex and i had oskar. it was so nice to meet up with them and get to see their family - anna was just a little thing when they left india. we only spent a few days with them - but it was great. we spent some time with them at their new house in copenhagen and also at their summer house at the coast, 30 minutes away.
oskar, anna and gustav got along brilliantly and played together all the time. we all agreed that oskar could have been their third child as he was blond and morphed into a scandinavian toddler very quickly.
here's to hoping that it is not 5 years next time.
francesca's camera
well, alex and i thought that we lost our camera at etroubles and didn't manage to take any photo's until the last afternoon once we found the camera at the bottom of chrissy's handbag.
all other photo's were taken by francesca and will be posted when she sends them on. thanks francesca

hip hip hooray for italia
yes, this is oskar's first plate of spaghetti in italia from ristorante la croix blanche, etroubles (a metroplis of 439 inhabitants on via naz gs bernardo 10). he didn't finish the whole plate but he did manage to entertain all of the diners with his spaghetti twirling prowess as they shouted "bravo, bravissimo".
(alex and i had polenta val d'aostana, and alex did help oskar finish the spaghetti)

switerland en route
we left new york for zurich at 7pm on saturday night. thankfully oskar slept most of the way.
we arrived into zurich at 8am sunday morning, ready to go and pick up our car and drive to aosta to see wally, francesca and yuri. the drive took 4.5 hours because we stopped at lac de la gruyere for some breakfast and a break. oskar enjoyed being here as there were numerous painted cows.
the view with the blossoms is in the direction we were headed - the pre-alps towards italia.
the mountain is one alex photographed as we were heading towards the pass du gran san bernardo en route to italia.
one thing we did find out on holidays
we have a healthy looking little bubba due in october
picture 1:
full body profile of our new baby (ok technically a few months away from being a baby - but who's counting)
right to left: bottom and legs, spine and abdomen, head, arms up towards the mouth
picture 2:
head profile, little lips and nose, with its chin resting on its chest - looks as though it is sleeping peacefully
heartbeat at 158bpm. also did a lot of kicking and turning during the sonogram.
all the white you can see, except for the lens flare is bone.
